Overview

Barcelos is known for the city of the rooster, symbol of Portugal!

The Barcelos’s crafts have their own character with many stories as is the Route of the Figurado. Crafts are produced by artisans who learned the art from their grandparents or parents.

In 2017, Barcelos was considered UNESCO Creative City in handicraft and folk art.

The Barcelos Fair is one of the largest, oldest and most admired in Portugal, taking place every Thursday of the year.

Come see where it all began, where the legend of the rooster came from!

Itinerary

1º

Our tour starts in the morning when the Humus Travel guide picks up from your hotel / accommodation.

2º

Travel by Mercedes Class V van towards the city of Cock, Barcelos.

3º

The first contact with the city of Barcelos will be breathtaking as you will visit the Pottery Museum where you can enjoy Barcelense handicrafts, also recognized nationally and worldwide, at your disposal will be about 9000 pieces.

Next, we will get in direct contact with the Barcelenses artisans in their workshops and to make their art, with Pottery and Iron and its derivatives Copres.

After putting ourselves in the skin of the artisan we move towards the restaurant, where typical Portuguese dishes will be served.

In the afternoon, visit the city, starting with the Santa Maria Maior Church of Barcelos, which is next to the ruins of Paço dos Condes de Barcelos and the Pelourinho. Dug.

Free time for personal discovery.

We head towards a workshop where there will be a Workshop, this will be given by a local professional artisan, called Paint your own Rooster ”which as its name implies you will paint a rooster of Barcelos which you can later take with you as a souvenir. from our tour. The Barcelos Rooster is a symbol of Portugal so it will have a historical experience.
